Out with the old, in with the new.
Resolutions, that is.
Since when does everyone’s list of resolutions for the new year have to entail solely, “Lose 10 (20,30) pounds by this date” or “Quit smoking”? Research has shown that only 75 percent of resolution holders maintain their goals past the first week, 71 percent past two weeks, and only 46 percent after six months. As for anything after six months,...

Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men.
What a wonderful day we had with both of our families! How blessed we all are to have all that we do. The presents were so much more than I could have asked for but the greatest feeling I received today was honestly from the time we spent with the people we love.
On to a different point of concern from the day that I felt compelled to share…
Seeing kids cry and whine about particular toys...
Home is where the heart is
And while we feel Costa holds a huge spot in our hearts it feels good to be home here, with our family.
It took a lot to get here but it wasn’t as crazy as I had imagined, just long. Traveling just outside of our little town felt nice because it was such a change of scenery after so long, but getting to America was even stranger. Driving through Orlando to Palm Coast made our time in Costa...
In the few hours of the morning
we weren’t sure how we were going to get out of our town, but we did. We took a car, to a ferry, to a taxi, to a bus, to a taxi, to a hotel in the town near the airport. It’s a different town, more of a city rather. There’s a chilly mountain breeze, paved roads and American fast food restaurants. It’s quite a change of pace from what we’ve known over the past 3...
May you always have a shell in your pocket
and sand in your shoes.
We take our bus on Tuesday morning at 6 to San Jose where we will spend the night. Our travels start early on Wednesday morning, and we will be back in the states around 4PM on that day. Not super excited for the traveling part, but I guess it’s only because we haven’t traveled to that extent since we first arrived.
I’m glad to be home for a slightly...
In a small studio apartment
on a warm Wednesday morning in December, our main goal and the one thing we have yearned for on this trip was successfully achieved.
Leading up to our move to Costa so many people asked why we wanted to do this, and some laughed in our faces. We would go on to tell them that we believed there was something so much greater to life than the norm that we were used to knowing. Also, why...
I don't want to make this quick
but I’ve got work in a half an hour and I really want to share our latest.
This past Tuesday our landlords, whom we consider to be more family really, told us they were going out of town for a few days and needed someone to run their lodge that we lived in our first two months. It’s a beautiful 6 bedroom house with a pool and a short walk to the beach; not to mention a maid and a...
Shame on me, shame on me.
Like I said, we’re learning a lot of lessons on this journey. And one I thought was about other people, was really a lesson for me.
My previous post about my camera lens was in the heat of the situation, and after all things considered we had pretty much settled on the only conclusion. I made a mistake in doubting friends we had made, and only thought it was possible after having other...
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me. We’ve learned that the hard way.
How easily we can be fooled into trusting people we connect with, and befriend. Who would have thought that while traveling, the only few friends we’ve met that have screwed us over, have been Americans? Not that any of our friends seemed untrustworthy at any point, until after the fact of the matter. Travis and I strive to...
Every day I count my blessings.
Only about two weeks until we are home in the states for Christmas. I’m ecstatic to see our friends and family, but I don’t even want to leave Costa. Other than a few small surfing injuries, everything is running smoothly and we’re having such a great time, especially now that it’s right about tourist season.
Today was the start of the Reef Classic. All the big surfers...
Last night
was my first night waiting tables at Zula, the only Israeli restaurant in town.
It was interesting to say the least, a 4 hour shift of trying to understand Spanish cooks and deciphering Hebrew from all the locals that hang out here. Someone told me I would pick up on the Hebrew more quickly than I would the Spanish… I don’t know about all that. One of the regular Israeli guys acted as...
¿Que día es hoy?
Wednesday, let’s see.
Well last I recall, we were about to celebrate Thanksgiving. The night was quite a success, had a delicious dinner surrounding a main course of what we’re calling “Red Snapper Chowder”. It consisted of a coconut milk broth, fresh vegetables we’d never heard of, and Red Snapper that clearly had been swimming in the ocean the very same morning....
