There are Nine(9) days left until Christmas.

Whoa. How’d it get to be this time again? I love enjoying all the things that come along with Christmas time though. The lights, the sights, the smells, tastes, and sounds getting a chance to remember how important it is to spend quality time with family and friends… movies. And I’ve hardly watched any!! Being as there are so few days, I’m going to narrow down my top five favorites and make sure that if any, these particular ones get watched and I may perhaps rate them and express why they are so great as I re-watch them with a new perspective of Christmas this year. So what?

I see two kinds of people at Christmas time. Those who way overdo it on everything, keeping them from enjoying the really important parts of the season by becoming stressed out and then there are those who have resentment towards Christmastime because of the people shoving it down their throats, and therefore complain all winter long. I don’t want to be either person, but why would anyone stop loving Christmas? So I’m trying to prioritize a Christmas list of different sorts in order to make sure I don’t stress out but I do enjoy the beauty of this season to the fullest.

Movies that I have already watched full or in part are Emmet Otter which I adored growing up, Four Christmases, Fred Claus, The Grinch, and a few randoms on Hallmark.

1. It’s a Wonderful Life

2. White Christmas

3. Christmas Vacation

4. Home Alone ( I think that’ll have to include 1 & 2)

5. The Santa Clause

A few more to squeeze in if possible would be Christmas with the Kranks, Rudolf Claymation, & Jingle All the Way. I’d say a Christmas Story, but I can always count on TBS to supply that need come Christmas eve - day. Like clockwork, I’ll have an open gate of time to make that happen, God willing. Got any more I’m forgetting?

Well tonight is Elf.

Carries the feel of the slightly overdone, but extremely imaginative and random stylings of other quotable Will Ferrell movies, which I adore. Using several other actors that have been in other movies together. Gotta love rewatching movies and noticing things you never did before. Love the direction and contrast between modern day New York, American lifestyle and the extreme claymation version of sugar plum life of the north pole. Love the pure spirt and nature of Buddy the Elf, willing to believe in the simple beautiful things of life. Also loove Zooey Deschanel, and her singing voice. The songs and music just sound so Christmaslike. The message of the movie is great. Love the whole movie but maybe if I had to choose a favorite scene it’d be when the two are on their date experiencing the small joys of things in New York together. Man if I were a true movie critic, I’d be giving this one two thumbs up… or 5 stars, however that works.
