Weary travelers
we were on Wednesday. We finally made it back to Costa Rica. Coming back, I had mixed emotions. I couldn’t wait to be back in our beautiful home but I wasn’t quite ready to come back. I think I had just missed family and friends a lot and wanted a bit more time with them.
Wednesday was a long day of traveling this time with two backpacks, a suitcase and a guitar. We took a car to a plane, plane to a taxi, taxi to a bus, bus to another taxi, taxi to a ferry, ferry to a bus, bus to another bus and then we were home. But still not quite.
While the details of our modes of transportation were even more complex than just the naming of them, actually getting into our house was even more of a strenuous experience. We stopped back at Atrapasueños in hopes of finding the gardener with our key. At first, we were unsuccessful, and had to sneak around back to try and talk to someone… anyone. There was loud music blasting from the back of the house and when I got around there was quite a pool party with people I’d never seen. Obviously the house had been rented out to vacationers and I was afraid we might not get into our house that late night after needing rest. The people we met were probably mid-twenties and they were all super nice and helpful. Offering us food and drinks and even a shower or the night at Atrapasueños with them if we couldn’t get into our house. It was awesome having really cool people in the midst of their party drop everything to help us out in whatever way they could. We were definitely back.
Anyhow, Travis finally found the gardener and we got our key. The bad news was that for some reason, the key wasn’t working and we had no one to help us, and no way of getting hold of anyone that could. Long story short, we finally got in our house around 9:55PM. We’d been up and moving since 4AM that morning, Costa time, and felt like we’d been going for an eternity. I only remember the time we got in our house because we had no water and nothing to eat and absolutely needed to go to the grocery store, which closes at 10PM. Travis sprinted and saved the night. We had a stoop party with Verny and Kawika to conclude the night.
That day, God had people on our paths that he definitely intended to help guide and direct us. Because, if we had not encountered about 5 separate people out of nowhere, we may not have made it home in the same day and may have had to stay in a sketchy town or other for the night. The day, while tiring, was a blessing and a reminder of what there was to miss about being here.
It’s taken us a couple of days to get back into the swing of things, but we’ve been experiencing wonderful weather and a massive swell that isn’t sure whether it’s staying or going. We were also successful at making it out of America and into Costa on a one way ticket, which we’ve heard is usually a big problem. So we’re not sure how long we will be here for, probably no longer than 4 months but we never know anymore. And we don’t plan on setting a date anytime soon, we’re just trying to live the Pura Vida.
